Notebook Week 7
With the feedback we got, we reflected on our two toy ideas and ultimately decided on the one we will pursue for the rest of the quarter
Progress So Far
After much deliberation, we have decided that RC SOCCER will be the toy that we will continue to pursue. This was mostly due to the fact that overall we were more excited about the idea and the fact that it presented a larger engineering effort for us to design rather than Castle Wars. Now we have divided into subteams to approach our final designs for the product. We have divided into three teams, the RC car team, the field team, and the launcher team. The RC car team is responsible for modifying the car so as to properly maneuver easily throughout the field. The field team will help design the actual field of the game and will consider things such as the field being able to fold out, the walls of the field, and the texture and layout of the field. The final team, the launcher team, will be responsible for designing a launcher that will shoot the soccer ball from the car.
Questions to Answer
- How should the field look like? Will it roll out like a mat or will it be rigid like an actual game board?Â
- How will we approach issues such as the ball getting stuck in the corner of the field? Will be add rounds to the corners?
- How will be keep the play area contained? Will we add walls that can be put up or will they be attached to the game board itself?
- What mechanism can we design in order for the car to efficiently pick up the ball then shoot it more than once?
- Is the scale of our game too large, small, or just right? Will we have to enlarge the size of the car to accommodate a launcher mechanism?
