Main Problem: My dad often misses parts of a movie or sports game he is watching since he often leaves during commercial break and comes back too late
Needs: an invention that is cheap, low maintenance, small, and preferably battery powered (5V)
Constraints: Arduino, calipers, drill, multimeter. Battery powered (5V), small size (no larger than a textbook), price (less than $20), loud enough alarm / bright enough light, lone range antenna to pick up WiFi signal
